Exertion (Stress) Course

Officers will participate in a series of live fire drills.  Integral to this course is a physical exertion requirement.  Participants will perform calisthenics and aerobic activity prior to shooting through the drills.  This is to simulate stress and physical exertion that results from a deadly force encounter.  Participants must be capable of performing challenging physical activity.  There is a pre-requisite for this class; participants must have attended the Fundamentals of Handgun Marksmanship Class to attend this course.  Participants will need the following equipment:  handgun, minimum of 2 magazines, holster, belt and at least one magazine pouch, and at least one flashlight.  These are the minimum equipment requirements.  Participants are encouraged to wear clothing appropriate to accommodate movement and physical activity.

Fundamentals of Handgun Marksmanship I

Participants will be trained on the fundamentals, (stance, grip, sight alignment and trigger control), that go into Handgun Marksmanship.  Drills are designed to work with participants on an individual basis to overcome weaknesses in their shooting technique.  The overall goal will be to improve not only the overall score of the officer during Pistol Qualifications, but to provide them with the confidence in their ability to use their handgun in the performance of their duties.  This course will benefit shooters at every ability level, to include those who are seeking their Firearms Proficiency Ribbon.

MAY 22ND, JUNE 10TH, JUNE 24TH, JULY 23rd, AUGUST 20th, SEPTEMBER 17th, NOVEMBER 5th

Fundamentals of Handgun Marksmanship II

 This course will build on the concepts presented during the previous training.  Included in this will be drills and training to develop the speed, accuracy and gun handling skills to allow each shooter, regardless of current ability level, to progress to the next ability level.  Participants will be trained and developed during this session and be given drills and 'homework' to allow progress to continue after the training session.

Fundamentals of Shotgun Marksmanship

Patrol Rifle II
 This class builds upon the foundation established during the original 2-day Patrol Rifle School.  Participants will fire approximately 500 rounds of ammunition during the class.  During class participants will work on multiple targets, movement, moving and shooting, extended distances and expanding on the fundaments of rifle marksmanship.
