KCFD Job Interest Submission
The Kansas City, Mo., Fire Department operates from 34 fire stations. These stations are divided into seven battalion districts that include, 34 Pumpers (Engine Companies), 12 Trucks (Ladder Companies),
three Rescue and one Shift Deputy Chief on duty every day in our community.
This department also is broken down into five bureaus: Community Service Bureau, Professional Development Bureau, Technical
Service Bureau, Special Operations Bureau and Emergency Operations Bureau.
Within these bureaus the department has dedicated operations,
hazardous materials (known as Hazmat 71), KCI airport
response units, a high angle rescue team and water rescue units.
The Fire Department operates a fully staffed Training Academy that concentrates
on recruit training, continuing education to the entire department and EMS training.
A communications center designed to receive calls for assistance and promptly dispatch a unit or units
to assist our citizens and guest.
The department also has an area dedicated
to fire prevention. This area not only promotes fire safety and education, but also investigates fires, performs plan reviews for new or remodeled buildings
and performs building inspections to ensure compliance with the city's fire code.
