Human Rights Commission hosts forum on dress codes and civil rights Thursday, April 22, 2010
The Kansas City, Mo. Human Rights Commission has announced it will be hosting a forum, “Is It Your Clothes or Your Color: A Forum on Dress Codes and Civil Rights,” Tuesday, April 27 from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Bruce R. Watkins Cultural Heritage Center, 3700 Blue Parkway. The event is free and open to the public. It will include panelists and time for questions from the audience.

New commission sponsoring youth focus group April 22 Wednesday, April 21, 2010

City and regional partners receive $20 million in EECBG federal stimulus dollars Wednesday, April 21, 2010
Today, Vice President Joe Biden announced the City of Kansas City, Mo., and its partners will receive a $20 million Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) from the U.S. Department of Energy, funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The EnergyWorks KC grant proposal was designed to change the energy retrofit market in the Kansas City region.

City’s agreement with Pepsi to benefit programs and services Friday, April 16, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., has signed a five-year agreement with Pepsi Beverages Company (formerly PepsiAmericas) naming Pepsi as the “Official Soft Drink” of the City. This agreement makes Pepsi Beverages Company the official soft drink products and food vending supplier in most City facilities.

Rental Registration is required for rental properties Tuesday, April 13, 2010
The City of Kansas City, Mo., is issuing a reminder to owners of rental dwellings located in the city in an effort to let them know they must renew or establish registration of their rental properties with the City's Neighborhood and Community Services Department on an annual basis. Annual registration of rental properties is part of the Rental Registration and Inspection Program that was established by the City Council, with passage of ordinance No. 071046 in October 2007.

City begins improvements to 47th Street Wednesday, March 31, 2010
Work scheduled for nights The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is advising motorists, residents and businesses that work has begun to improve the intersection of 47th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and upgrade the traffic signal at 47th and Broadway streets.
