North Congress construction begins Monday
The City of Kansas City, Mo. Capital Projects Office is notifying motorists that construction on the North Congress Avenue improvement project will begin Monday, October 25.
This four-stage $3.7 million project will improve and upgrade North Congress Avenue, between Northwest 73rd Street and Missouri Highway 9, adding storm sewers, curbs and gutters, and water line improvements to the roadway, as well as replacing the North Congress Avenue Bridge.
"These improvements and upgrades are essential to provide our citizens the safe roads and amenities they need and deserve," said Second District Councilman Russ Johnson.
The first phase of the project will consist of water main improvement, utility relocation and grading. This phase, which is scheduled for completion in early 2011, will allow further construction to take place in spring 2011. The project is scheduled for full completion in summer 2012.
"This is a very important project for the Northland and Platte County that will benefit current and future residents," said Second District Councilman at large Ed Ford.
Periodic road closures are anticipated during all phases of construction. Closures and detours will be posted and announced prior to those phases.
