City cosponsors American Indian Symposium Nov. 3
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department will join the American Indian Council and federal, state and local partners to sponsor the Eighth Annual American Indian Symposium on Thursday, Nov. 3 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event will take place at the Pierson Auditorium of University Center, University of Missouri - Kansas City, 5000 Rockhill Road.
The symposium is designed for health care providers, nurses, doctors, elected officials, attorneys, paralegals, behavioral health providers, educators, substance abuse counselors and social service providers. Presentations will include “Challenges of Being a Native American Nurse,” “Public Health and American Indians” and “Tobacco Cessation Among American Indians”. Other presentations will discuss behavioral health, legal issues and cultural education topics.
Advance registration is preferred at a cost of $50 until Sunday, Oct. 30. Registration after that date or onsite registration will cost $65. The Health Department has been a sponsor and planning partner for the American Indian Symposium every year since 2004.
