City website and servers restored
The City of Kansas City, Mo., has restored service to its website, www.kcmo.org. The outage was created by a hardware failure that struck a large virtual system where data and applications are stored. This failure included the redundant controllers and multiple drives.
While the hardware installation and maintenance are covered under warranty by the equipment supplier, the City expresses appreciation to residents who have been patient during this service outage and apologizes for the inconvenience it caused.
Technicians from the supplier worked into the evening attempting to resolve the problem. However, the solution that resolved the issue was provided by the City’s IT Division staff.
The supplier will perform forensics analysis on the hardware to identify the reason it failed and provide the City with the information in a timeframe of four weeks.
