FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Oct. 11, 2005
Public comment period re-opens for Red Bridge Road project
The public comment period for a Red Bridge Road project is being re-opened from Oct. 11 through Nov. 1.
The City of Kansas City, Mo., is re-opening the public comment period to give all interested parties another opportunity to give their input for the planned improvements for the section of Red Bridge Road between Holmes Road and Blue River Road.
The planned improvements include: widening the road to a four-lane facility with left-turn lanes, bicycle lanes, curbs and sidewalks; removing the existing signalized railroad crossing which will eliminate the disruption of traffic flow due to train traffic; and building a new bridge to the north of the existing bridge that will span the Blue River and the Union Pacific Railroad tracks. The existing historic Red Bridge will remain in place and will be incorporated into the City’s parks system as a bicycle and pedestrian bridge.
Display boards, project information and public comment forms will be available from Oct. 11 through Nov. 1, at the Mid-Continent Public Library Red Bridge Branch at 11140 Locust St., Kansas City, Mo. Written comments received by Nov. 1, will be made part of the public transcript for this project.
