Marriott investigation nears completion
The Communicable Disease Prevention Program and the Food Protection Program of the Health Department are completing final data analysis of the gastrointestinal outbreak associated with the Tobacco Prevention Conference held at the downtown Marriott Hotel July 7-12.
Several foods served during the conference were statistically significant in relation to the illness. Based upon analysis of the data, the team of investigators was unable to determine if the mode of transmission of the initial illness was a contaminated food item, an infected food handler or an infected conference participant..
