Hate crime hotline established

The Human Relations Department of the City of Kansas City, Mo., has established a 24-hour hotline for citizens to use to report threats and incidents of hate crime or racial intimidation. If you feel you have been victimized or are being threatened, call the hotline, (816) 809-2716.

Hate crimes are a criminal offense, under the Civil Rights Act 18 U.S.C. Section 245, for violent and destructive acts that are committed against persons or property that is motivated, in whole or part, by the perpetrator’s bias against a victim’s race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, age, disability or sexual orientation.
