City taxes in Clay County to be billed Nov. 1
The City has changed the date for billing City real estate taxes for those who own property in Clay County. City property taxes formerly billed on Sept. 1 of each year will be billed on Nov. 1 of each year beginning this year.
The City only bills real property taxes for Kansas City citizens residing in Clay County. Cass, Jackson and Platte counties currently bill and collect City real estate taxes on behalf of the City by including these taxes on their annual tax bills mailed to property owners on Nov. 1.
The change in billing dates was approved by the City Council Aug. 15. The revision will be less confusing and give Kansas City property owners in Clay County the benefit of receiving their City property tax bills at about the same time they receive property tax bills from the County.
