Health Department holds special back-to-school immunization and general health clinics on Saturday, Aug. 11

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department will host a special back-to-school immunization and a general health clinic on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The clinics will be in the Health Department’s atrium at 2400 Troost Ave. Residents registered by 2 p.m. will be seen that same day.

In addition to back-to-school immunizations, the Health Department will also provide clinics for Hepatitis C testing, STD testing, Hepatitis A & B vaccinations and lead screenings. Vital Records, which provides birth and death certificates, will also be open during the immunization and general health clinic.

“By providing more clinic services at this back-to-school immunization clinic, we hope to make it easier for Kansas City residents to access additional health services,” said Tiffany Wilkinson, assistant division manager, Communicable Disease Prevention and Public Health Preparedness.

Parents and guardians will need to present a copy of their child’s shot records or a letter from the child’s school stating what shots are needed. If the child has previously had shots at the Health Department, parents and guardians may get a copy of the shot record when they register at the event.

Immunizations are free for children who have no insurance, who have limited insurance that does not cover immunization or who are eligible for Medicaid’s Vaccine For Children program. The Hepatitis C testing, Hepatitis A & B vaccine, STD testing and lead screenings are also free.

Immunizations are available daily in the Health Department’s immunization clinic during regular clinic hours.
