FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Aug. 3, 2009
City's supplier application now available online
Businesses interested in becoming a City of Kansas City, Mo., supplier (vendor) can now apply online at http://www.kcmo.org/supplier. To be added to the City’s supplier list for bidding, an application must be completed and approved by the Procurement Division of the General Services Department.
Suppliers are selected in competitive bid system, with both non-advertised and advertised bids. Non-advertised bids are for commodities and/or services less than $117,000 and are sent to a reasonable number of approved prospective bidders. Advertised bids are for commodities and/or services where the estimated cost shall exceed $117,000 and the project will be formally advertised prior to the bid opening.
Bids are awarded on a lowest and best bid basis. In addition to price, the following factors are considered in determining the lowest and best bidder: ability to perform; timely performance; character and reputation; quality of prior performance; compliance with bid specifications; compliance with Human Relation Division affirmative action requirements; and compliance with Occupational License and Earnings Tax laws.
The Procurement Division works closely with the Human Relations Division’s Affirmative Action Section to ensure all vendors and contractors doing business with the City are in compliance with the mandates of Civil Rights Ordinance No. 92812. The City encourages all disadvantaged minority and woman businesses to apply to the City Supplier (Vendor) List.
Media inquiries about the Supplier (Vendor) Application online should be directed to Brian Hernandez, supplier relations coordinator for the General Services Department, (816) 513-1598.
