General Services Department, Procurement Services Division
wins national recognition
The City of Kansas City, Mo., General Services Department’s, Procurement Services Division has been awarded the 2010 Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award, sponsored by the National Purchasing Institute.
"Our city employees have been stepping up in a big way lately," said Mayor Mark Funkhouser. "I commend all the employees of the Procurement Services Division for the hard work that went into receiving this honor."
This prestigious award is based on high standards of certification, ethics, education, professional development and leadership. The award recognized the continuing pursuit of professionalism and exceptional quality in procurement.
“The Procurement Services Divisions commitment is to strive for excellence in everything we do,” said Cedric Rowan, division manager. “This award recognizes the hard work of several persons throughout the City. We are very excited about being one of two government agencies in Missouri to receive this award.”
The Procurement Services Division is comprised of 25 employees and includes management of the City’s Surplus Property Section, Mail Center and Print Center. This is the first time the City of Kansas City, Mo. has been recognized with this award. The City joins the University of Missouri as the only other recipient from Missouri for the 2010 award.
