City suspends Surrey’s for five days
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department and Surrey’s, a sightseeing horse and carriage business, have agreed to a five-day suspension of the business. Surrey’s is located at 4538 Troost Avenue.
The suspension will begin Aug. 21 at 6 a.m. and end Aug. 25 at midnight. The suspension is the result of multiple ordinance violations where the drivers of the sightseeing vehicles were allowing passengers to sit and ride in the front seat of the animal drawn sight-seeing vehicles on multiple dates.
As a condition of the suspension, the management of Surrey’s has agreed to provide education, training and instruction to their employees about City ordinances.
Media inquiries about this issue should be directed to David Park, Acting Director of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department, at (816) 513-3231.
