City announces new assistant director of City Planning and Development
City of Kansas City, Mo., Director of City Planning and Development Robert Langenkamp, AICP, has announced the appointment of Jeffrey Williams, AICP, as principal assistant to the director. Williams previously served as director of planning and development for the City of Yonkers, N.Y. Before that, he held the same position with the City of Mount Vernon, N.Y.
Williams was selected after a national search that yielded a diverse field of highly qualified candidates. He begins work on July 1.
Williams holds a bachelor of architecture degree and is certified through the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP). His 25-year planning background includes supervising agencies on urban renewal, industrial development and community development. He also has worked on various historic preservation projects, downtown/waterfront plans and urban renewal initiatives.
As principal assistant to the director, Williams will focus on all planning functions and serve as director of the department in the absence of Langenkamp.
