New program aims to improve Kansas City neighborhoods
Informational meeting June 28
Representatives of neighborhood organizations seeking to improve conditions and livability in declining areas are invited to a meeting to learn about the City’s new Neighborhood Improvement Program.
The program will be managed by the Neighborhood and Community Services Department. The meeting will be June 28 at 6 p.m. in the auditorium of the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose FOCUS Center, 3200 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, Mo.
Areas selected for participation in the program will receive intensive coordination of City services. These services will include crime prevention, fire prevention, code enforcement, home repair assistance, and public infrastructure repairs.
The neighborhood organizations representing the selected areas will be required to work with the City and seek sponsorships from corporations and foundations to help ensure the success of the Neighborhood Improvement Program in their individual neighborhoods.
