Final phase of Waukomis construction begins Tuesday
A key road opening signals the beginning of the third and final phase of construction on Northwest Waukomis Drive.
The City of Kansas City, Mo., is advising motorists that starting Tuesday, June 5, North Green Hills Road will reopen between Northwest Platte Brooke Drive and Northwest 72nd Street.
In addition, Northwest Waukomis Drive will close between Northwest 72nd Street and Northwest Bryan Avenue as work begins to widen the roadway to three lanes. Crews will also build a roundabout at the intersection of North Green Hills Road, Northwest Waukomis Drive and Northwest 72nd Street.
The extensive road improvement project, which started in April 2011, also extended Northwest 72nd Street from North Polk Avenue to Northwest Waukomis Drive and reconstructed North Green Hills Road between Northwest Platte Brooke Drive and Northwest 72nd Street.
Work on this project is scheduled for completion in summer 2013. Kansas City’s Public Works Department managed the design and construction of this project.
Media inquiries and other requests for more information about this project should be directed to Sean Demory, Public Works Department, at 816-513-0059 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
