Overnight valve replacements on Blue Ridge Cutoff to affect water service

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Water Services Department will perform two valve replacements tonight, Tuesday, May 29, at 11 p.m. The first replacement will take place at Raytown Road and Blue Ridge Cutoff, and the second one will take place at 39th Street and Blue Ridge Cutoff.

Customers in the area of 38th Terrace to 57th Street along Blue Ridge Cutoff will have no water service during the repairs.Customers in the area of 23rd Street south to 75th Street; and Booth Avenue east to the City limits may experience low water or no water pressure during the repairs. A map of the affected area can be viewed by visiting http://www.kcmo.org/idc/groups/water/documents/waterservices/areamap1.pdf.

Repairs are anticipated to be completed by 6 a.m.

“When valves work properly, crews can make routine repairs with greater ease and reduce the number of customers inconvenienced by repairs,” said Water Services Director Terry Leeds. “While the maintenance to make this possible will create a temporary water outage, we will work to complete repairs as soon as possible and return service to customers in a timely manner.”

For more information, contact Colleen Doctorian, public information officer for the Water Services Department, at 816-513-0232.
