Recycling center in south Kansas City re-opens May 6
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department announced that the recycling drop-off center formerly located in the Kmart parking lot on Bannister Road is re-opening May 6 in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 91st Street and Hillcrest Road.
The 3-Trails/Bannister Community Recycling Center will be open Wednesday through Friday from 11 a.m. until 5:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
A variety of initiatives, including environmental education, are being implemented by the 3-Trails Village Community Improvement District at this center. A sheltered environmental education classroom may be available.
The center closed at the Kmart on March 19 due to the reconstruction project at that location to accommodate the recent merger of Kmart and Sears. More than 8,000 tons of recyclables were collected at the Bannister recycling drop-off center since opening in 1994.
