Academic Achievers Luncheon on May 5

Some of Kansas City's top high school seniors will meet with City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen for his third annual Academic Achievers Luncheon. The luncheon will be held May 5 from 11:30 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the President Hotel at 1329 Baltimore Ave.

The students were selected by their school administrators to meet with Cauthen and discuss their experiences living in Kansas City, and things they would like to see happen and change.

"As we strive to make our city more vibrant and engaging, I believe young people are vital to making this happen. I plan to use their suggestions to attract young people to Kansas City as a destination of choice for living, working and recreation," Cauthen said.

Jones; Park Hill High School -- David Pope and Jeff Parrett; Westport High School -- Rachelle Johnson and Jimmy Johnson IV; Raytown High School -- Bethany Goldammer and Chris Harvey; Winnetonka High School -- Kristine Brown and Stephen Persinger; Park Hill South High School -- Sarah Knudsen and Emily Wright; DeLaSalle Education Center -- Kenyuana Howard and Raashid Brown; Ruskin High School -- Paul Landry and Tanitra Bedford; and Paseo Academy of Performing Arts -- Denika Warren and Victoria Caraballo.
