City begins improvements to 47th Street
Work scheduled for nights
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Public Works Department is advising motorists, residents and businesses that work has begun to improve the intersection of 47th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue and upgrade the traffic signal at 47th and Broadway streets. Weather permitting, the projects are expected to be completed by mid-July.
In an effort to minimize any inconvenience to the public, construction activity will be scheduled between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. During these night-time construction hours, motorists and pedestrians should expect to encounter delays and lane closures. During day-time hours, motorists and pedestrians should anticipate temporary traffic cones and uneven pavement and sidewalk conditions.
When completed, the project at 47th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue will provide an additional signalized intersection for pedestrians to cross 47th Street.
Media inquiries and other requests for more information about these projects should be directed to Dennis Gagnon, public information officer for the Public Works Department, (816) 513-2659.
