City Councilwoman appointed to national advisory committee
City of Kansas City, Mo, City Councilwoman Jan Marcason, 4th District, has been appointed to the Nation League of Cities’ Energy, Environment and Natural Resources Advisory Committee.
The committee oversees the organization’s National Municipal Policy and works to ensure that its positions are current and representative of the views of the nation’s local elected officials. The committee also serves as first-line advocates for promoting priority positions to the U.S. Congress and assists in identifying solutions to local challenges.
“I’m looking forward to working at a national level to help develop best practices in sustainability that will assist local governments across the country,” Marcason said. “I also think my involvement will bring increased attention to the green solutions Kansas City is implementing, and help improve future initiatives.”
Marcason will attend a committee meeting March 15 in Washington D.C.
Marcason is a member of the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, vice chairwoman of the Finance and Audit Committee and spearheaded the City's response to the Environmental Protection Agency's mandated sewage overflow control plan.
