Aim4Peace sponsors Job, Health and Educational fair
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department’s Aim4Peace program joins with the Brush Creek Community Center to sponsor the Job, Health and Educational Fair for area residents. The event will be Thursday, Jan. 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Brush Creek Community Center, 3801 Emanuel Cleaver Blvd.
“Our goal with this event is to decrease the stress that leads to violence by increasing access to jobs, health services and educational opportunities in the community,” said Tracie McClendon-Cole, manager of Aim4Peace.
More than 25 vendors are scheduled to attend the event. Some of the employers that will be present include Allied Waste, Ameristar Casino Hotel, Career Advisor, Cartwright Companies, FedEx Ground, Stivers Staffing Services, Transformed Barber & Cosmetology Academy, and UPS Inc.
Health care screenings and information will be provided by the Health Department, the Black Health Care Coalition, Children’s Mercy Hospital – Healthy Start and the Penn Valley Student Nursing Program.
The Kansas City Art Institute, DeVry University and Metropolitan Community College Kansas City – Penn Valley will be among the schools with representatives present to speak with prospective students about enrollment, programs and degree paths.
The event is free and open to the public.
