The Community and Hospital Letter is a monthly newsletter for physicians, nurses, hospitals, laboratories, elected officials and others in the community. The newsletter began publication in 1980, and the publication cycle for each volume is from August through the following July. Community Health Assessment 2011
Community Health Assessment 2011 is the latest edition to the Health Department's annual series of community data that provides a baseline against which improvements in the community’s health can be measured. Each edition of this report has built upon prior data and has expanded both the topics covered and the level of data analysis for many areas.

The information contained in the report comes from local, state, and federal sources, as well as from community and national organizations, such the Partnership for Children. Undoubtedly, there are other data in the community that could be used to enhance the information presented in these reports. The Health Department will include that information in future editions. The 2009 Assessment is available both as a single, total document and by chapters; if you have any difficulty opening or viewing any of those PDF documents, please e-mail us.

Fact sheets
The Division of Health Education and Health Communication has collaborated with the Division of Communicable Disease Control and Public Health Preparedness, the Division of Environmental Health Services, and the Office of Epidemiology and Health Monitoring to prepare fact sheets on the diseases and conditions for which the most inquiries are received from the community. The listing of fact sheets is not comprehensive for all diseases. The question and answer format for each fact sheet is based upon the typical questions the division receives for that particular disease or condition. If you have questions regarding an infectious or parasitic disease that is not listed, please call 816-513-6152.
