The 6th District has the largest percentage of retail jobs of all the districts and twice the percentage of the city as a whole. The 6th District has a smaller percentage of service jobs compared to the city, and the percentages of jobs in the manufacturing and other industries are comparable to the city.

In 1990, the 6th District was fourth in the percentage of people who worked within the district in which they resided compared to the other districts.
