Water Services Utility Funding Task Force Meeting Tuesday, September 2, 2008
The Water Services Utility Funding Task Force is a mayoral appointed group that includes representatives from the City Council, the business community, the Wet Weather Community Panel, community leaders, and individuals who have special expertise in local poverty issues, demographics, and development. The Water Services Utility Funding Task Force will help integrate community values into forming a funding strategy for the City’s water, sewer and stormwater utilities.

City/state services not required for Hurricane Gustav evacuees at this time Sunday, August 31, 2008
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Emergency Operations Center has announced that air evacuees from Louisiana will not be coming to the Charles Wheeler Downtown airport, as had been expected. Other locations around the state also will not be needed at this time.

Trash pick-up delayed, City offices closed Sept. 1 Monday, August 25, 2008
In observance of Labor Day on Sept. 1, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and City of Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed. The 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager's Office, also will be closed for the holiday.

City awarded grant to join international clean water pilot program Tuesday, August 12, 2008

WSD receives upgraded AA+ bond rating from Standard and Poor’s, maintains A1 bond rating from Moody’s, plans the sale of $69 million in water bonds Friday, August 8, 2008
Kansas City, Missouri Water Services recently received an upgraded bond rating of AA+ from Standard and Poor’s and maintained an A1 rating from Moody’s. The Department plans the sale of $69 million in new bonds which will be used to finance improvements to the system's distribution infrastructure and primary treatment plant. The plan also includes refinancing almost all of the utility's outstanding bonds to enact a new Master Bond Ordinance.

Santa Fe Trail Road closed between Wornall and Pennsylvania Wednesday, August 6, 2008
Drivers who travel along western Santa Fe Trail Road will now face a temporary detour. Construction on the road between Wornall Road and Pennsylvania Avenue will require a road closure now through April 2009. The construction, designed to control traffic flow along Santa Fe Trail Road and build a new bicycle/pedestrian trail near the road, will include upgrading traffic signals, installation of new curbs and sidewalks and additional turn lanes at the intersection of Santa Fe Trail and Wornall roads.
