City reaches agreement to close Barcelona Banquet Hall Tuesday, December 30, 2008
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department and the management of Barcelona Banquet Hall have agreed to an informal disposition, which will close the banquet hall indefinitely. Barcelona Banquet Hall is located at 3053 Southwest Blvd.

Trash pick-up delayed, City offices closed Jan. 1 Friday, December 26, 2008
In observance of New Year’s Day on Jan. 1, curbside trash and recycling collection will be delayed one day and City of Kansas City, Mo., offices will be closed. The 3-1-1 Action Center, a division of the City Manager's Office, also will be closed.

Water leak in heating system forces Health Department to close Monday, December 22, 2008
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Health Department will be closed today while crews work to repair a large water leak in the heating system. The repairs are expected to be completed in time to reopen all services tomorrow.

WSD receives $1.4 million EPA Grant for Green Redevelopment of Beacon Hill Wednesday, December 10, 2008
Kansas City, Missouri Water Services (WSD) has been awarded $1,474,500 to implement green stormwater infrastructure improvements in conjunction with the Beacon Hill Redevelopment Project, located west of Bruce R. Watkins Drive from 22nd Street to 27th Street in Kansas City, Mo from the EPA.

Rental program begins second registration cycle Tuesday, December 9, 2008
All owners of occupied rental dwellings located in Kansas City, Mo., must register their properties with the City's Neighborhood and Community Services Department. This registration is the result of the passage of ordinance No. 071046 in October 2007, which created the Rental Registration and Inspection Program. Registration is required on a calendar-year basis and it expires each Dec. 31, which means that owners of rental dwellings must submit renewal paperwork annually. Renewal forms were mailed starting Dec. 8 to property owners who previously had registered their properties.

The City of Kansas City, Mo., Property Preservation Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department is once again accepting applications for the Home Weatherization Program. Applications had been suspended Nov. 12 because more money needed to be appropriated for the program.

City suspends liquor licenses of Deluxe Party Shop and Shooters Wednesday, December 3, 2008
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division of the Neighborhood and Community Services Department has suspended the liquor licenses of Deluxe Party Shop, 9337 Blue Ridge Blvd., for 14 days and Shooters, 4108 N. Oak Trafficway, for three days. The suspensions were made in agreement with management at these establishments.

City receives federal funding for mental health courts Monday, November 24, 2008
City Manager Wayne A. Cauthen announced today that the City of Kansas City, Mo., was one of 10 communities in the nation to receive funding from the U.S. Department of Justice through a program for local mental health courts. The grant will provide nearly $200,000 over two years to train court personnel, add legal services and increase staffing.
