City describes upcoming project needs at contracting and procurement forum
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Human Relations Department encourages area businesses interested in learning about government contract bidding to attend the seventh annual Kansas City Government Contracting and Procurement Forum on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The forum will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at Bartle Hall, 301 W.13th St.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Ready…Set…Grow! Tools for Growth,” and will provide local and regional business partners with critical information, networking opportunities and access to government contracting and procurement opportunities. It will also feature face-to-face business sessions, workshops and exhibits. City departments; local, state and federal agencies; and area businesses will provide information about government contracting.
“This forum includes crucial information for growing businesses, including networking opportunities, access to potential business partners and ideas for quality products and services at competitive rates,” said Ashlea Blue, KCGCP chair. “This event will prove to be an extremely beneficial opportunity for everyone who participates.”
An Awards Recognition Luncheon will begin at 11:30 a.m. This event will recognize local contractors and small businesses that have consistently demonstrated a commitment to small and minority business development. The keynote speaker will be Sachi Koto, former anchor of CNN Headline News, who now runs her own public relations and communications firm.
While the forum is free, registration for the luncheon is required and there is a $40 fee to attend.
The forum is sponsored by the City’s Human Relations, Parks and Recreation, Conventions and Entertainment Facilities, and General Services departments, in partnership with The Cordish Company, Burns & McDonnell, KCP&L, Black & Veatch, The Human Rights Commission, Turner Construction Company, MC Realty Group, KBR, Heavy Constructor Association of Greater Kansas City, CenterPoint, Blue Symphony, TSi Engineering and Jim’s Disposal Service.
