Scott Huizenga named new budget officer
The City of Kansas City, Mo., is pleased to announce the appointment of Scott Huizenga as its budget officer within the Finance Department’s Management and Budget Division. In this position, Huizenga will report to Randall J. Landes, finance director.
Huizenga will assume the duties and responsibilities for the day-to-day review, preparation and development of the City’s annual budget on behalf of the city manager. Additional duties include monitoring income and expenses throughout the year for the City’s $1.4 billion budget and working with staff in and outside of the Finance Department on strategic initiatives impacting the delivery of City services.
“I believe Scott possesses the skill set needed to take on the challenges of the budget officer position,” Landes said. “He brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to oversee every aspect of the budget.”
Huizenga most recently served as the city administrator for East Grand Forks, Minn., and was responsible for the daily operations of a full-service community. However, he is not a stranger to Kansas City. He was employed by the City from May 2003 to August 2008, first serving as a budget analyst and later as the assistant to the director for business support in the Capital Improvements Management Office.
Huizenga has a bachelor’s degree in public administration from the University of North Dakota and a master of public administration from the University of Kansas.
