City celebrates Earth Day with S.M.A.R.T. water efficiency webcast
In celebration of Earth Day, the City of Kansas City, Mo., and Bridging The Gap will host a S.M.A.R.T. water efficiency webcast on Monday, April 22 from noon to 1 p.m. at a variety of City facilities. Bridging The Gap is a local environmental organization.
The S.M.A.R.T. water efficiency webcast is adapted from Bridging The Gap’s 5 Blue Things presentation and encourages residents to use water wisely throughout their home or business. Kristin Riott, executive director of Bridging The Gap, will lead the presentation.
“Earth Day is a perfect time to remind us all to be more thoughtful and efficient with the Earth’s resources—including water,” said Andy Savastino, environmental compliance manager in the Office of Environmental Quality. “And using this opportunity to collaborate with Bridging The Gap is a great fit.”
Residents are invited to attend the presentation at any of the following locations:
- City Hall – Council Dining Room, Eighth Floor, 414 E. 12th St.
- Water Services – Missouri River Auditorium (North Side), First Floor, 4800 E. 63rd St.
- Health Department – Conference Room B, Second Floor, 2400 Troost Ave.
- Kansas City North Community Center – 3930 N.E. Antioch Road
Giveaways such as water bottles, native seeds and eco-kits will be distributed to attendees and individuals who sign the electronic S.M.A.R.T. water efficiency pledge. Giveaways will be distributed at the various locations while supplies last.
Residents may also watch the webcast at home by visiting www.kcmo.org/kcgreen and clicking on the “S.M.A.R.T. Water Efficiency Webcast” button. Please note, the webcast is limited to the first 100 participants. Residents who choose to watch from home are advised to tune in early to ensure a spot.
