City suspends liquor license of Smuggler’s Inn and tobacco license of Royal Liquors for violations involving minors
The City of Kansas City, Mo., Regulated Industries Division and the managing officer of Smuggler’s Inn have agreed to a three-day suspension of the inn’s liquor license. Smuggler’s Inn is a restaurant and bar located at 1650 Universal Plaza Drive.
The suspension will begin Feb. 25 at 6 a.m. and end Feb. 28 at midnight. Smuggler’s Inn was suspended for violating the conditional liquor license and allowing minors to enter the licensed premised during hours in which they are prohibited. During the suspension, the business will be closed.
The City’s Regulated Industries Division and the licensee/authorized corporate officer of Royal Liquors have agreed to a 10-day suspension of the store’s tobacco license. Royal Liquors is a liquor store located at 801 Southwest Blvd.
The suspension will begin Sunday, Feb. 23 at 9 a.m. and end Wednesday, March 5 at 9 a.m. Royal Liquors was suspended for violating City ordinances, including selling tobacco products to minors. During the suspension period, the store will be prohibited from selling tobacco products.
As a condition of the suspensions, the managing officer of Smuggler’s Inn and the licensee/authorized corporate officer of Royal Liquors have agreed to provide education, training and instruction to their employees about City ordinances.
