Airport Terminal Advisory Group will hold public meeting Monday
The City of Kansas City, Mo.’s Airport Terminal Advisory Group will hold its second public meeting on Monday, Feb. 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. to get input on potential changes to Kansas City International Airport’s terminal configuration. The meeting will be held at the Robert J. Mohart Multipurpose Center, 3200 Wayne Ave., Kansas City, MO 64109.
Individuals testifying at these hearings will be asked to submit their questions, name and address in writing at the meeting and limit their testimony to two minutes. This will allow everyone a chance to provide input. Individuals also may submit written testimony to KCITerminalAdvisoryGroup@kcmo.org. Comments will be read by advisory group members and will be entered into the public record.
The advisory group also will hold two more public meetings later in March. Those meetings will take place Monday, March 10 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Southeast Community Center, 4201 E. 63rd St., Kansas City, MO 64130; and on Thursday, March 20 from 6-7:30 p.m. at Johnson County Community College’s Polsky Theatre, 12345 College Blvd., Overland Park, KS 66210.
Individuals interested in learning more about KCI’s operations can view the following video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VsPYlHmlmRc. It features a behind the scenes tour of Kansas City International Airport taken by members of the advisory group as they learned about the airport’s infrastructure, security and other operational issues.
The advisory group comprises community members from across the metro area appointed by Mayor Sly James. Members have been meeting twice a month since July to study airport issues and learn more about airport operations and the potential impact of any change.
The group expects to make a recommendation in April 2014 to Mayor Sly James and the City Council. The City Council must approve any new plans for the terminal configuration, and the public must vote on any change requiring issuing bonds to finance the project.
Any person with a disability who desires reasonable accommodation to attend this meeting may contact the City’s 311 Call Center at 311 or 816-513-1313, or for TTY, 816-513-1889, or by email at 3-1-1.Call.Center@kcmo.org.
