Annual Reconciliation of Earnings Tax Withheld and supporting W-2 information due Feb. 28

The City of Kansas City, Mo., reminds employers to file their Employer’s Annual Reconciliation of Earnings Tax Withheld by Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. All W-2 forms are also due at this time.

Employers who file W-2 information electronically or via magnetic media with the federal government are required to do so with the City. W-2 information may be submitted electronically via the City’s online portal, Quick Tax, at For those requiring a paper format, forms and instructions may be obtained on the City’s website at

Please remember to file the required Employer’s Annual Reconciliation of Earnings Tax Withheld and the W-2 information by Feb. 28 – per the City’s ordinances, employers who fail to meet the deadline will be assessed a stiff penalty fee, similar to IRS penalties.

City ordinance also now requires electronic filing and remittance for employers with 250 or more employees for all withholding-related taxes for periods beginning Jan. 1, 2013. Please note that there are penalties for failure to comply with this mandate. The specific penalties are on the form at
